Adam’s Atelier Takes A Trip To The Western Front: US Army Uniforms, 1915 – 1918

And for something a little different, I am happy to announce that at 9 am on Saturday, July 30, 2016, I will be giving a presentation on American military uniforms entitled “US Army Uniforms, 1915 – 1918” at Costume College. Costume College is an annual three-day costuming arts convention sponsored by the Costumer’s Guild West and it covers all periods and genres. Just for something different, I decided to submit a proposal regarding uniforms and especially we’re on the even of the 100th Anniversary of America’s entry into the First World War.

The presentation is aimed at a general audience and designed to provide a basic overview of US Army uniforming of the First World War Era. The toughest part is that I have far more information than can be easily packed into a one-hour presentation and it’s going to be a challenge to keep it manageable. As part of the presentation, two friends of mine from Co. G, 364 Infantry, a living history group that’s part of the Great War Historical Society (of which I am a member of) will be assisting me, acting as live models.

It promises to be an interesting time and if you happen to be attending, please come on by. 🙂

I Have Returned…

After a few days spent camping with my horse in the San Bernardino National Forest, I have returned to civilization. Naturally my timing was perfect in that I chose the one weekend where temperatures soared to over 100 °F and it was not much better in the mountains at 7000 feet. Oh well, we did see some nice scenery and it gave me a time to mentally recharge myself and that’s all one can ask for. 🙂

So what now? Well, it’s back to work, assisting on the various projects we have going on here at Lily Absinthe and it’s going to be an exciting summer for us (hopefully the heat will keep itself in check for awhile). Also, for me, I will be giving a presentation on American uniforms of the First World War Era, 1915 – 1918 at Costume College in late July- stay tuned for more details on this!

Also, on Saturday July 9, 2016, I will be attending the Old Fort MacArthur Days living history event at Ft. MacArthur in San Pedro, California as part of my unit, Co. G, 364th Infantry, a member unit of the Great War Historical Society which is an organization dedicated to preserving the heritage of the First World War.

Things will definitely be heating up a bit around here so stay tuned! 🙂

Mac, our creative consultant.

It’s been another busy and creative week here at Lily Absinthe and I am excited to say we moving forward with developing a series of new designs that include both historically-based as well as more contemporary designs. Also, we are in the process of developing some new sources of fabric that will give our new designs that added “punch”. Stay tuned for more developments in this department. 🙂

We are also proud to announce that we will be attending Costume College 2016, on July 28 – July 31, 2016 and we look forward to meeting many of our blog followers in person.

So it’s full speed ahead on into 2016!
