Getting Ready….

Here’s a little something to start things out- this was taken at the Allen Street Cemetery. This is a functioning cemetery and reading the grave markers is a really sobering experience.

Some clients take my breath away when they bring my clothes to life. Dreamy silk gown and hat made by myself, that beautiful face and presence is her own. <3

A Stroll In The Park…

Lately we’ve been busy getting ready to go to Tombstone but today we decided to take a small break and go for a picnic in the park. It was a bit on the warm and humid side, not the usual warm and dry weather that we get in Southern California so our sojourn was not for very long. 🙂

You readers might remember this dress, it’s based off an original dress c. 1879 – 1880 and is constructed of all printed cotton lawn, over dyed to match some taffeta I already had for the knife pleating at the hem. The embroidered part, was dyed to complement the remainder of the dress.*All the layers of the skirt are sewn together at the waist, each shirred panel is flat lined on cotton in a deeper shade of violet, so it would show through the sheer fashion fabric. The colors certainly stand out amidst the all the grass and green vegetation- it almost looks like Giverny. 🙂
