And For A Little Early Christmas…

We normally prefer to reserve our Christmas-themed posts until AFTER Thanksgiving, this one was just too nice to pass up: Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria, BC:  🙂

For us, this is not just another pretty Christmas scene- we were fortunate to have been able to view this room (sans Christmas decorations) during a recent visit to Craigdarroch Castle; pictures simply doesn’t do justice to it. Of course, we’re also planning on our own take on Christmas at No. 11 when we once again participate in the Tombstone Historic Home Tour so stay tuned!

The Anastasia Dress In Action…

One of the most satisfying things about creating bridal dresses is being able to see them “in action” and it never grows old. 🙂 Below are some pictures of one of our bridal dresses based on our “Anastasia” design, modified to the client’s specific desires:

Holiday Holidays From The Atelier!

2017  has been a year of change for us and although there were a few bumps along the day, it’s worked out well for us. One of the major changes was our moving into my parents’ old house, which has allowed us to expand our operations. It’s also an interesting contrast in that the overall design of the house is Mid-Century Modern along with its interior furnishing- yes, believe it or not, we do work in periods other than the Victorian and Edwardian Eras. 🙂

Old School sewing machines fit in nicely anywhere…

Mid-Century Modern has always been one of our favorite periods because it provides such a contrast to the earlier Victorian/Edwardian Eras and it helps us maintain a sense of design perspective. In fashion design, it’s all too easy to lose one’s perspective when focusing on just one or two narrow periods so we like to mix it up a bit- think Dior’s New look and beyond… 🙂

Looking forward to 2018, we’re looking at creating some new exciting designs and otherwise taking advantage of what whatever opportunities present themselves.  We wish all our clients and readers happy holidays and may your 2018 be prosperous. 🙂
