Goals…

Some of my clients have “pretty princess” goals, mine has always been to just look like the ladies on the old Coca-Cola advertising tins! Straight-fronted corsets, large perchy hats, and waterfalls of sheer ruffles… ♡

Spring Has Sprung!

Taking a morning twirl, shaking off winter, and finishing up some new Lily Absinthe gowns for Spring…taking bookings for Fall and Winter commissions. ♡

What’s Next? Bath, of Course…

We’re only a  little more than month away until we once again board Air New Zealand and head off to England…we’ll be spending four days in London and then moving on to Bath for the 2019 Prior Attire Ball.  🙂

Naturally this will require a new ball gown and it’s currently under construction…I can’t reveal the details just yet but don’t worry, there will be preview coming very soon. 🙂 Last year was a lot of fun and so we’re going to do it again but this time we’ll be visiting some of the sights around Bath in more detail than what we did the last time…and of course, well be “taking the waters”…well, more like taking a small sip.

Here we were last year with our lovely hostess.

Stay tuned for more soon!

And For Something Different…Paris 1889

Today, just for something different, here’s some artwork from circa 1889 that features fashion and the Eiffel Tower. 🙂

In Development- The Ladies’ Mantle

One our most recent projects has been the development of a set of outerwear patterns, starting with a circa 1889 mantle based on period patterning methods. While we had excellent luck with the first prototype, we wanted to refine the design further, starting with a slightly larger wing collar. Also, we decided that adding cuffs would also make the design more interesting so we’ve also developed a pattern piece for those. Below are a few pictures of the base shell- we still need to add various trim:

Here’s a close-up of the collar:

We still have a ways to go before they’re finished but so far, it’s proven to be an excellent design that provides an excellent foundation for many refinements and variations. Stay tuned for more! 🙂
