Recovering from the Thanksgiving feast…we took a little turn about town. This time of year, Tombstone is pretty empty so we took the opportunity take a few pictures. 🙂

his is only a sliver of my not-so-secret antique hat collection…specifically 1870-1920, sometimes I wear them, sometimes reproduce them and use them for study. I go through phases, like *all* the flowerpot shapes, then Edwardian off the face styles, it’s all art to me. I prefer straws to fabric over wire, but can’t resist a pretty silk velvet swooping Gibson Girl chapeau. 🙂
Check out how this 1898 British designer chose to conceal the hand worked eyelets…I am currently lifting a pattern and taking notes from this beauty in our collection.

Renaissance Revival style of bodice in our collection, circa 1880, with a hand smocked center front inset, silk covered tasseled wrist lacing cords and a surprise scarlet lining for the rear tails with heavy lead weights. She’s a beauty, should we lift a pattern? 🙂
